News
Blackburn deservedly beat Wigan 3-1 in Saturday's North-West derby at Ewood Park.
Roque Santa Cruz put the home-side in front on 12 minutes after Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland could only parry a David Bentley long-range effort and the striker followed up to head home.
But Wigan replied through a Marlon King penalty on 17 minutes after Emile Heskey was brought down by Christopher Samba, who was sent off.
Just before half time, Jason Roberts restored Rovers lead after latching onto a Santa Cruz flick on and then coolly slotting home.
And Santa Cruz sealed the win in the 63rd minute when heading in a Bentley cross.

News
Newcastle celebrated their first win under Kevin Keegan with a 2-0 success over fellow strugglers Fulham at St James' Park.
Goals in each half from Mark Viduka and Michael Owen were enough to give Newcastle their first victory since December, which had come against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Viduka gave Newcastle the perfect start with the opener after just six minutes with a fine finish past Kasey Keller.
Newcastle had to wait until seven minutes from time to make the game safe with Owen heading home Geremi's free-kick to see off Fulham.
The win eases Newcastle's relegation fears, while Fulham remain second from bottom and the defeat stretches their winless run away from home to 32 games.
Tension relieved
The Magpies had got their noses in front after just six minutes when Viduka turned on Geremi's pass to fire a left-footed shot into the bottom corner to relieve the tension.
The Australian then headed horribly wide after 19 minutes, but Obafemi Martins would have hit the target four minutes later had Keller not dived full length to turn his shot away.
The goalkeeper was equally agile with 29 minutes gone to deny Owen from 25 yards, and then had to palm away the striker's close-range header after it deflected off one of his own men.
Abdoulaye Faye sent an overhead kick across the face of goal, but Owen really should have made it 2-0 nine minutes before the break, only to head Geremi's cross straight at Keller.
In the meantime, Newcastle keeper Steve Harper had to make a smart save to keep out Jimmy Bullard's 34th-minute shot after it dipped nastily in front of him, and the Magpies were grateful for the half-time whistle when it arrived with Fulham making a genuine push.
The second half began in much the same fashion with the visitors seeing plenty of the ball, but the home side looking the more threatening.
Mass celebrations
Viduka saw a 49th-minute header blocked at point-blank range after Owen and Joey Barton had combined to open up the Cottagers, and Martins fired just over six minutes later after a pacey run towards goal.
Barton, enjoying one of his better days in the black and white shirt, went for goal himself with 58 minutes gone, hammering a right-footed shot just wide from 25 yards as the Magpies began to build up a head of steam.
Martins had the ball in the net eight minutes later, although from an offside position, and the roar from those who had not spotted the flag spoke volumes about tension levels inside St James' Park.
Geremi almost embarrassed Keller with a 76th-minute shot after the ball ricocheted to him as Owen became involved in a goalmouth scramble, but the second goal simply would not come.
But with seven minutes remaining, Owen timed his run to perfection to meet Geremi's free-kick and glance home a deft header to spark mass celebrations.

News
Manchester United's cruise control victory over Liverpool earlier in the afternoon had made the capital derby a must-win affair and it was Avram Grant that emerged victorious as Chelsea came from behind to see off Arsenal 2-1 in West London. Arsenal had looked in control when just shy of the hour mark Bacary Sagna escaped his marker at a corner to head in at the near post. Chelsea's response was magnificent and muscular as Drogba twice struck with clinical precision to delight those in blue and shatter those in red.
History repeating?
Arsenal had been the last team to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in February 2004 - and it looked like a repeat was on the cards when Sagna headed home a corner from Cesc Fabregas in the 59th minute. Chelsea coach Grant has often been criticised for not being able to beat the top teams but his team's stunning fightback may well have changed that perception once and for all.
The contest was just five minutes old when Michael Ballack tested Manuel Almunia with a free-kick that the Arsenal goalkeeper did well to collect at the foot of his left-hand upright. But Arsenal, now five games without a win, had their chances too with Robin van Persie twice failing to beat Carlo Cudicini with shots from the edge of the penalty area. Drogba was struggling to remain in the game in the opening half as he asked for treatment to a thigh problem - and he should have put home side ahead in the 24th minute. A superb through-ball from captain John Terry put Drogba in the clear - but the ball bounced off his knee into the grateful arms of the waiting Almunia.
Great chance
Cudicini had to be alert at the opposite end when Ashley Cole's backpass almost found its way into the net. Chelsea continued to chase a goal and Salomon Kalou should have provided it when a downward header found him unmarked on the edge of the six-yard box five minutes before the interval. Sadly for Chelsea, Kalou completely missed his kick and the chance went begging.
Ballack then tested Almunia with a stinging volley that the Arsenal goalkeeper did well to save at the foot of his post. The game sprung into life in the 59th minute when Sagna scored his first goal for Arsenal and put Wenger's side in control. Fabregas sent his corner arcing towards the near post and Sagna lost his marker Kalou to glance a header into the net. The goal looked to have put an end to Chelsea's interest in the title race but then Drogba found the kind of form which has made him one of the most feared strikers in Europe. The Chelsea faithful were already beginning to fear the worst and chanted the name of Grant's predecessor Jose Mourinho - along with 'You don't know what you are doing' before Drogba lifted their ailing spirits. Drogba equalised in the 73rd minute when the ball cannoned back off Frank Lampard into his path on the edge of the penalty area.
Ivorian rampant
Drogba reacted swiftly to drill a low shot beyond Almunia and into the bottom corner to put Chelsea back in the game. But Drogba was not finished and eight minutes later the powerful striker had secured a remarkable comeback for the Blues with a goal which keeps them very much in the race for the title. Joe Cole's free-kick fell to the striker eight yards out and he managed to bring the ball under control before despatching a right-foot shot that Almunia could only parry on its way into the net. Drogba would have completed a sensational hat-trick moments later, only for Almunia to deny him with a superb save at his near post.
The result will give both managers much to think about as the title heads for a thrilling and unpredictable finish.

News
Manchester United tightened their grip on top spot with a 3-0 victory over ten-man Liverpool in a dramatic encounter at Old Trafford.
Referee Steve Bennett, at the centre of the action throughout, decided not to award a penalty to Wayne Rooney in the opening few minutes after the Manchester United striker found himself on the receiving end of a mistimed challenge from Jamie Carragher but battled to stay on his feet.
Jose Reina's error then allowed Wes Brown to head home Rooney's cross after 34 minutes, before Javier Mascherano was controversially shown a second yellow card on the stroke of half-time for dissent. United dominated possession after the break and made sure of the points as Cristiano Ronaldo capitalised on another mistake from Reina to nod in a second in the 79th minute. Nani then fired a stunning third past Reina to add gloss to the scoreline for United and leave Liverpool just two points above Everton in the race for fourth place. In a frenetic start the opening tackles were sharp. Scholes went in on Xabi Alonso and Ferdinand on Fernando Torres before Mascherano went too far and was booked for cutting down Scholes. In the midst of it all Rooney could have scored twice. First he got behind Carragher, whose tackle could easily have produced a penalty had the former Everton man gone down. Instead Rooney kept his feet and forced Reina into a save with his legs. Then Scholes' lofted pass fell behind the Liverpool defence and Reina scooped the ball away from Rooney's rush into the box.
Post
The Liverpool tactic was conceding the ball to United in dangerous positions, and from one set-piece the ball again cleared Liverpool's back-line for Ronaldo to see a shot hit the foot of a post.
Gerrard, who had looked strangely subdued, finally burst into action after 27 minutes, taking a knock-down from Dirk Kuyt and seeing a right-footer deflected inches over. But United were soon back on the attack, and after 33 minutes Reina only stopped a Giggs effort, and was forced to claw it back from under the bar. But Liverpool were not to survive much longer. Scholes swept the ball out to Rooney on the left after 34 minutes, and when his curling cross arrived in the box, the unlikely figure of Brown was there to reach it before Reina head into the net.
It was Brown's first of the season and only the third of his career, and it gave United a deserved lead. Ryan Babel wasted a good opportunity after skinning Brown, and then Alvaro Arbeloa lifted a 12-yarder aimlessly over the top.
Frustrations
Liverpool's frustrations then saw them implode. Torres was booked for dissent, and Mascherano joined in. Referee Bennett, having already booked the Argentinian, produced another yellow and then red. Mascherano was furious, as was Rafa Benitez. The player had to be hauled away from the pitch, such was his fury. For the second half, Gerrard was pushed back into Mascherano's holding role. But it took a point-blank save from Reina to stop a Ronaldo effort a minute after the break. Reina then produced another improbable save from Rooney, six yards out, Arbeloa becoming the next Liverpool man in the book for tugging back Anderson. Liverpool still had a slim chance, and sent on Yossi Benayoun after 66 minutes for the ineffective Babel. Torres then missed a decent chance, unmarked on the far post, when a Gerrard free-kick reached him.
United sent on Carlos Tevez and Nani for Giggs and Anderson after 73 minutes, and it took another wonder save from Reina stopped Tevez close in. Liverpool were then incensed by a Michael Carrick challenge on Torres, right in front of Benitez which Bennett did not penalise - further enraging the Anfield boss. United, though, were in no mood to let Liverpool escape. After 79 minutes Ronaldo headed home a Nani corner and two minutes later Nani created space for himself on the edge of the box to blast in the third.
